Unavoidable.. I got the 3 red rings.. I was using the hot towell trick for about a month, and was still playable, but now it just freezes after 3 minutes every time.
I'm going to sell this one (fix it first) and buy a new one..
Some people are saying that the latest update messes up the xbox alot, and causes all that freezing, so I don't know if I should risk it now.. I'm stacked on single player games anyway..

How many consoles have you guys gone through so far? Any advice?

Anyone here who hasn't had any problems.. yet?

I'm wondering what may be causing all this.. Some say it may actually have something to do with the power brick, they had freezing problems, and when they suspend it in air so it ventilates, everything is fine again.. A lot of people actually confirmed this. Some say it has something to do with how the console is placed, horizontally or vertically. May sound like a bunch of myths but I'm sure there is something specific that causes this crap, and it's seriously pissing me off..

my friend (gamertag: Boogerman) is on his 5th xbox. 2 of them got red lights, and lost two games in broken 360s. PS3's have very few problems. i had mine since last december and haven't had a problem yet.

Three of my friends who got there 360s last year didn't break im thinking we got the good shipment or something =)

I am on my 4th now..

Good thing is i used up my last free gamestop return, and I owned a core.... Lucky me, I return it 2 weeks ago and get a new core with HDMI output.

I thought about getting a ps3, but I have so many games and money invested in the 360 that it's hard to switch..
And I'm not all too satisfied with the games it has to offer so far..
Another thing is that I love the achievements/marketplace/whole live experience..

Maybe if I get enough cash someday and/or get seriously pissed and dissatisfied with the 360 (which may be soon the way things are going) I'll get a ps3..

Yea, Ps3 has had a few teething problems and of course a slow start.. Its a new console... Xbox 360 came out and that only had a few games for months also.. Ps3 will have tons of games soon.. Look at the PSP.. That now has more games than the xbox, lol.. Ive not had one problem and never even heard of any problems with the ps3..

How longs xbox been out??? Hardly call there problem teething problems.. They just dont know how to fix it.. Just replace them...
I gave mine away... Best thing i did....

well, i guess this thread helps me out, my parents wanna know which one i wanna get for xmas, and i cant decide, because im an avid sony fanboy (but all other consoles are good too

) but i want the 360 cause ive played every halo (at my friends house) up until the 3rd one, cause i moved....

....but i also want online which the 360 charges for and im too broke to pay! hah and the 360 seems to have more problems with all the replacing and 3 red lights of death. and the ps3 can have XP on it, so im leaning towards the ps3...

Thats why i got a 360 the live experience is something i ahted at first but now im like an achievment whore lol even tho i don't have much exept in skate.. anyways i say if ur next 360/elite breaks to check out the ps3 by the time it breaks again the ps3s should be a lil cheaper lol.I seriously mean to get the ps3 tho id be pissed if mine broke twice.. plus ps3 will get games just wait the only thing bad is live is better then the ps3s online thing.

I can almost guarantee, like there's an 80% chance that if someone gets a 360, it'll die within 6 months to a year.

I was safe from the frustration of having to send it to microsoft, as I pay 39.99 a year to eb/gamestop to give me a new one. Good thing I did, as I am on my 4th now, All with various levels of messed up'edness.

Red rings.
Please insert this disc in a microsoft xbox 360 console. (seriously, wtf)
Freezing.
Disc not being read (on a game literally taken out of the package).
Weird meltdown errors (I have shared the pics with you guys before).
The Last one I had to replace had all of these problems short of the red rings, the drive would be spinning and when it would change speeds to start reading a different part of the disc it would go. "IIIIIhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrgh", like spinning a single blank cd on the center of it's spindle and it starts to wobble and vibrate if angled wrong. this would cause the game to freeze when ANYTHING was loading. Not to mention, I had to stop using the 360 to watch dvd's because the damn system was so loud I might as well be vacuuming while trying to watch a movie.

This new on I got seems to be working fine for now, and I can't replace it anymore due to gamestops new policy. but it has HDMI, and my old ones didn't... i'm assuming this one has the new components and cpu/gpu size in it.. hopefully. All of my previous systems were perfect when i get home and set it up..then sometimes as soon as a week goes by they start to take the dump on me..

On the brink, about to get a ps3 behind my wifes back. love the games on the 360 but whats the point when the thing playing them will not work properly for more then a month.
