hi guys, this may seem a bit strange, but i need to get 3 red lights on my friends xbox. basicly, his xbox is just out of warranty and it keeps freezing up in exactly the same manner as mine did before i got 3 red lights...it gets to the xbox logo (if he is lucky) then it freezes, he hasnt got it to go to the dashboard for ages

we wanna get the 3 red lights so microsoft will fix his xbox for 3... he doesnt want to pay as he is going to buy the elite (falcon chipset) in the new year

any help will be greatly appreciated

cheers for the ideas guys, i dont think i fully explained the problem...basicly the console freezes at the xbox logo and doesnt even get to the menu blades...also, when a disc is inserted, it doesnt even spin up? remember, it cant be opened up or microsoft wont even consider fixing it for free

i mite try the towel trick again...and just leave it on overnight, cant think of a safe way to get condensation in the cosole? plus i would be quite worried about powering it up...would peobably explode in our faces

thanks to all that posted, after lots of attempts to get the infamous ring of death, my friend finaly gave in and phoned microsoft... �65 to be fixed which isnt soo bad really, but it made me laugh that a guy came round the very next day to collect it, but everyone i know who has had 3 red lights has had to wait at least a week for it to be picked up... looks like you get a faster service if you actually pay as someone else i spoke to got theirs picked up the very next morning after agreing to pay to have their machine repaired. oh well

But why pay to repair it, thats just nuts... Luckily mine hasnt gone red on me... Yet.... But the fact they want more money for there faults... Cheeky bastuards...... Should just get a ps3.... :D They rule.....

yeah, thought about getting a ps3 a while ago, but the lack of games and super high pricing put me off a bit, plus i like the social aspects of xbox more, the community is the best thing about it for me. maybe get a ps3 in the future, right now im not fussed about it
