hi guys, this may seem a bit strange, but i need to get 3 red lights on my friends xbox. basicly, his xbox is just out of warranty and it keeps freezing up in exactly the same manner as mine did before i got 3 red lights...it gets to the xbox logo (if he is lucky) then it freezes, he hasnt got it to go to the dashboard for ages
we wanna get the 3 red lights so microsoft will fix his xbox for 3... he doesnt want to pay as he is going to buy the elite (falcon chipset) in the new year
any help will be greatly appreciated

maybe you could do the towel trick but instead of taking it out after 10 min leave it there for a hour or so, is he buying one the first of the new year? cause from what i've heard it takes 6 weeks to get your xbox back.

tbizzle, it will take 4 - 6 weeks regardless of the 3 red lights(got mine back after 5 and last time his broke he got it back in 4) he just doesnt want to pay to get it fixed which is fair enough if you ask me... especially since he will be paying out for a new one soon anyway, he's not too fussed about having no xbox for a while, but he wants it fixed so he can sell it on
so far we have tried the towel trick for about 30mins... mite try it again and tape up the vents! also tried voilently shaking it!!! why wont the red lights come on when you want them too...damn you microsoft

you could always go to walmart and buy a room heater and stick it by the 360 while playing a game or dvd while wrapped in a towel. why doesn't he just buy the elite now? i thought all elites had falcon chipsets or atleast the updated coolers. i totally understand not wanting to pay for repairs i have a broken 360 myself they sent me a box to ship it back but no return shipping label.

im pretty sure the elites in the uk dont have falcon chipsets at the moment...and im not even sure how you would tell if you were getting a falcon xbox as its my understanding that they are packaged in the same box as a regular elite. i think we are gonna keep trying it until it evenually gets the red lights...there must be a way to do it!?

you might aswell just take out the heat sync on the inside, just before it blows, fry an egg on the xenon core and BAM fried 360 and a really nice cooked egg :-)

3 red lights are made by the video card overheating, run it over night while playing a dvd or a game. Put it in a closed place and wrap it in a towel.
Another way is you can also ruin it by CONDENSATION.
