Quote: Good things come to those who wait. Bad things land on the laps of those who just can't. This sad but mournfully true adage was once again proven by two Xbox 360 owners who were just a bit too eager to play Halo 3 Epsilon. And play they did, but not after logging onto Live first - which meant that practically everyone who knew of their gamertags could plainly see that they were enjoying the highly-anticipated sequel even before the retail version hit storeshelves.

And for it, they were banned from Xbox Live. Up to the year 9999. Certainly a long time for both players to sit and think about the consequences of their actions.

So, what really happened? As it turns out, both players had been messing around with illegal copies of Halo 3 Epsilon a day or so before they were hit with a rather large banhammer. The first player, dak Is back, was merely letting his console update Uno when all of a sudden, he was disconnected from Live. A couple of reconnection attempts later, he got the message saying that he was, indeed, banned from Live. The other player, Scar, also received a similar fate while trying to recover a profile.

While it seems that Microsoft and Bungie is being a bit heavy-handed on the punishments, violating the Terms of Usage is also quite the infraction. So remember, dear readers, if in doubt, remember the banhammer. Patience is a virtue for a reason.

How do they ban devices? Can you just make a new live account, or are they SOL?

their box is banned. they can get back online only by getting a new 360 and recovering their gamertag onto it.

That's how it usually is, but in this case their box and their GT are both banned.

its one thing to play pirated software long after games come out, but a completely different thing to play it 20 days before its release. sorry but i dont feel sorry for them at all. dak is bak wants to call xbox support too, i'm sure they will love to hear from him and investigate how he got a copy and find a trail to the source.

what a bunch of losers.....or are they just stupid? anyone knows...from the beginning of xbox live that if you play pirated games you must not use xbox live in the process.....they will find out!

i'm against pirated games altogether. be it early or late.

Turns out they didn't get banned.

I've never heard of that website. I'd like to know from Gamespot or Gametrailers.... either that or from some from well known source about the incident rather than pro-g in the uk ....

That just means people who buy it from stores who break the street date. That's not what these guys did.

It was Epsilon, the final testing stage for Halo 3. Get you facts straight. He did get banned, and he did send his xbox in. He tried showing off to me, but im glad he got banned. Teaches him not to brag to his own cousin...

so did they send his xbox back?
