Did you remove or mess around with your harddisk?
If you did maybe the connection is bad.
Im just guessing. I dont have a PS3.
But since it says Hard Disk missing, Try looking around in that area.

If you put in a new hard drive, make sure it's an ATA 2.5" and not a SATA drive. ATAs are faster and it could be possible you PS3 may not be able to read it. What happened prior to your little dilemma?

RPMs have nothing to do with whether or not the PS3 can read his HDD. Lower RPMS actually make the PS3 run cooler ... That said. Check to see if you actually have a hard drive. If not contact Sony wight away.
