Unavoidable.. I got the 3 red rings.. I was using the hot towell trick for about a month, and was still playable, but now it just freezes after 3 minutes every time.
I'm going to sell this one (fix it first) and buy a new one..
Some people are saying that the latest update messes up the xbox alot, and causes all that freezing, so I don't know if I should risk it now.. I'm stacked on single player games anyway..

How many consoles have you guys gone through so far? Any advice?

Anyone here who hasn't had any problems.. yet?

Who started with the funny comments and crap.... Not me... All i said was get a ps3 and you wouldnt have the problem of the 3 red rings, (as a fookin laugh).... Even though i never had the 3 rings when i had my 360. Not my fault you get some 360 bumboys who cant look beyond the tip of there nose and like to cause arguements, and think there the almighty behind a keyboard ... I voiced my opinion and will do where ever i go... After all thats what forums are for.. So you dont like it, Tuff shit!!

Lets face it, There are always going to be arguements, downsides, upsides for every console that is going to be made.... FULL STOP!!! and people will have there say to which ever consoles they think is better..

Just stop getting offending when someone says that the ps3 is good...

thats a good one... look mate, theres no need to be bitter just because you spunked over �300 on a ''potentialy'' great console. its just pity that it hasnt really shown any of that potential after all this time

i know there a good points and bad points about both systems, for me the 360 is better which is why i swiftly sold my ps3... sure, its better as a media hub in my opinion, but then i want to play online with friends i can invite at the touch of a button and actually communicate with. for instance, i played cod4 on my mates ps3 last week for a good couple of hours and had a pleasent enough experience with the game... but the fact that he had to leave mid game to invite a few friends to set up a match was a joke, and the whole time we played, we encountered about 8 people with mic's... no joke

if sony sorted out their online then i 'mite' (not might) think about getting one again... but anyone that buys a ps3 because they think that one day its going to get updates and match microsofts service, in my opinion is a fool! il stick with the 360 thanks... rrod and all

Well�I've had my x360 since January-February 2006 and I've had no problems, just the game occasionally freezing when there is too much action going on (for example, I was play Saints Row and the game froze due to this huge explosion I caused when blowing up a truck against 5 cars). That was the only time. The other times are when I play Madden '07-08. I have never had the red rings of death before.

I stand my x360 vertically. I think this has something to do with other people's x360 inter cooler vent thing heating up because they lay the x360 horizontally restricting air flow.

i lay my xbox down as it seems to keep cooler that way, doesnt make quite as much noise (although it aint silent either), it isnt going to get knocked over... also dont like slotting the discs in when its vertical as they sit low in the groove and i can see it adjust as it go's in... gives me the heebie jeebies

my first rrod happened after not long at all, started freezing when loading splinter cell and a few days later she died... was expecting it tho so no biggy. my brothers have launch 360 and have never had any problems... lucky sods
