You can now use a keyboard with the Wii's Internet Channel following the new 3.1 firmware upgrade. For this new feature, you need to go to the Wii Shop Channel and download the updated Internet Channel under Wii Ware. There are also some new useful features that you can find out about at link.
I am using the new Internet Channel right now and I really like it! Since I haven't got to use the USB keyboard, my favorite new feature is the ability to press the B button to shift instead of clicking shift all of the time on the virtual keyboard. Another useful feature I like is that you can highlight certain text and press the search button instead of having to type the text to search it.
