i too think gears was a bit overhyped...all games are these days, the campaign was fun but very short lived and once i had played through it a few times (including co-op) there really wasnt any need for me to play it again...but it is the online multiplayer that really shines
im not a big fan of 'spawning' and like the fact that when you die you are out, also, the game feels more personal and there is a lot more communication involved and can be quite tactical at times
no doubt, halo campaign has more depth and im looking forward to doing legendary in co-op but i was really let down by the online multiplayer, and the maps feel too big (again, in comparison to gears and the fact that i havent got them all down yet). im not knocking the game at all, it is true halo...i was just expecting it to shine a bit more (and i dont mean graphicly)

I have to agree with you about gears and the halo 3 maps do feel BIG at first but u get used to it =)
