Six colours available from day one
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced that the updated PlayStation Portable will go on sale in the region on September 20.
The solid date comes following Sony's E3 confirmation that the redesigned handheld will launch worldwide in September. The PSP Slim will retail for JPY 19,800 and comes in six colours: Piano Black, Ceramic White, Ice Silver, Rose Pink, Lavender Purple and Felicia Blue.
The new model PSP is 33 per cent lighter and 19 per cent slimmer than the original design. A video-out port has been added to enable users to connect to their TV sets, and loading times have been improved. Following the launch of the console worldwide in September, Sony is promising a variety of different SKU's for each region. US consumer will be able to get their hands on a limited edition Daxter PSP Entertainment pack as well as a Star Wars branded model in October.
Entertainment Packs in North America will retail for USD 199.99, with standalone units selling for USD 169.99.

Am I the only one dissapointed with the redesign? I really hoped for new features, or at least for brighter screen like what Nintendo did with the ds lite...Nevertheless, I might get this upgrade just for the faster load times

the psp is unplayable outdoors in the park, or anywhere the sunshines. I wanted a better lcd screen.

thats nothing to do with brightness, thats more do do with reflectiveness of the PSP outer casing and the reflectiveness of the LCD

Update: Yes, PSP-2000 is the model number (as PSP-1000 was the original). However, it is being referred to by Reeves (check the link above) and in widely reported articles as the PSP-2000 like that's the name. It will still be officially known as the PSP, as Sony is not rebranding the unit to differentiate it in consumer's minds. So the choice of Sony executives, instead of giving it a sexy name, is referring to it as the PSP 2000.

YES YES!! that is the one i want!! but i think they should make KH1 and 2 or special editions just for the psp...and make that a pack! that MIGHT get me interested, and did you notice that the package it comes in looks like a shoe box?
