Another E3 has come and gone showing off some pretty impressive games. Last year it was all about the “next generation of gaming” (the new consoles). This year focused on the games available for these new consoles. Having yet to have purchased any new console, yes I still use my Nintendo game cube and am proud of it, E3 really affected what I was going to buy. In the beginning I really wanted a 360 (Halo 3) but most of the games coming out for the 360 that I want also are coming out on the PS3. The PS3 has more exclusive games (Little Big Planet, MGS4, Killzone2, and Home). These titles, the price drop and the blue-ray player really won it for me.

Now that I have to make a decision I have many questions involving the PS3 which I would like some help with. Feel free to answer whatever you can so I can buy something at least before the 60 gigabyte PS3’s are all gone.
Thanks in advance
• Is a 1080p T.V. necessary or will 720p do the trick?
• PSN prices, same as 360 marketplace?
• Any “3 red lights of death” or any other heating related issues?
• Are there firmware upgrades like on the PSP?
• Can you play PS3 games on your PSP using remote play?
• Does the PS3 use the PSP for anything, you know like wii and the DS?
• I haven’t seen any PS3 headsets so will any Bluetooth headset work?
• Do all online games use the headset or just a few like on the PSP?
• Can you upgrade your storage; let’s say I fill up the 60 gigs?

Well I think that is everything, I’ll use all of your information in my sales pitch to my mom so I can convince her the PS3 is worth the $500.00 (well a lot more if I want a decent T.V.)

1. Unless your using a TV bigger than, say, 50" I doubt that you can even see a difference between 720P and 1080P.
2. About the same
3. It's a piece of electronics, of course things happen, but it's not a major problem.
4. Yep
5. No
6. Yes
7. Pretty sure. Most head sets that work with your cell phone will work with the PS3
8. Not sure on this one
9. Yes. And it's quite easy to do.

1. 1080p looks amazing, but you won't really tell difference between 1080p and 720p on a smaller tv
2. very close
3. No PS3s do a very good job at keeping cool
4. Yes
5. No
6. sort of, not sure what you mean
7. Any bluetooth headset should work or you could use an old PS2 one through usb
8. Most do
9. Yes, VERY easily (under 5 minutes)

1. I have a 1080p TV and it is amazing. i can definatly tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. expecially because its a 60". anyways though, 720p is fine i suppose because right now most of the PS3 games are around 720p and 1080i, not too many 1080p games. (resistance for instance is 720p.) but i have a feeling that more games comming out will be 1080p (like killzone). HD is HD.
2. One of the reasons i went with PS3 over 360 is because the online is free. you probably know that. umm the prices are about $10 for a good game online. and the add on that i saw for resistance, was $8 so that was kinda a rip off. overall though, i guess for the games its a decent price . most you get to demo anyway before you buy them so you know if it's worth it.
3. Nothing has gone wrong with mine so far, and ive had it since about a week before christmas. also, doesn't get that hot.
4. Tons of firmware upgrades. They have been awsome ones too. Like i did a survey for sony a while ago and it said what other things do you want in a firmware update, and i said a bunch of stuff and some things were like beable to not have the disk startup right when you turn the PS3 on.. or have the choice to do it, and make it so i don't have to snyc up my mic every time i restart. both of those things came in the next update. crazy.
5. No, but supposably soon you can like do parts of your PS3 games with your PSP. F1 was supposed to do that, idk if they did. as a rear view mirror
6. umm, well you can access your PS3's XMB (dashboard) from any WiFi zone on your PSP and play any content off of the HDD. that's a nice feature. also again, supposed to be game integration.
7. Any bluetooth headset will work, but yeah, there are a couple PS3 headsets.. one USB the other bluetooth. also Bluetooth headsets are supposed to come with some games like warhawk and socom.
8. The good ones do, some don't like Call Of Duty.. but out of my online games.. all of them use headsets.
9. Yep, you can get a 2.5" HDD and swap it out, (i think 2.5", so any laptop HDD). or you can do what i did, and get an external Hard Drive for cheap. i got 250GB for about $70 to 100 after rebates.

Here's my answers.... I know quite a bit.

• Is a 1080p T.V. necessary or will 720p do the trick?
Either are fine... most games are in 720, but some support 1080. Like they said, it's very close.

• PSN prices, same as 360 marketplace?
Pretty close.

• Any “3 red lights of death” or any other heating related issues?
Not really... The PS3 has a less than 1% failure rate... Electronics generally are around 3%. The 360 is around 33%. Just make sure the PS3 has fresh air in the front and can blow air out the back and right side. I have mine in a tighter space and have never had any issues.

• Are there firmware upgrades like on the PSP?
Yes. They keep adding more and more stuff. 2.0 is going to be real good. Just dont expect any of the PSP's firmware exploits and homebrew to appear. The PS3 is way more locked down so people cant cheat on-line.

• Can you play PS3 games on your PSP using remote play?
No, and Yes. Currently no, but that is up to the developers. Since the control style is different, it wont be the full game, but the are talks about mini type games, or anciallary games to the main game. One of the cool things in the works.

• Does the PS3 use the PSP for anything, you know like wii and the DS?
No, and yes. Right now it doesnt, but games are supposed to be able to use it. Imagine using the PSP as a rear view mirror, or haveing a character set up a remote camera and you can view the camera's feed on the PSP, using that to trap people in game.

• I haven’t seen any PS3 headsets so will any Bluetooth headset work?
Yes. Bluetooth is a standard, so in theory all should work. There are reports of a few having issues, but most standard ones will work fine. Warhawk and Socom are both going to be packaged with a jabra headset, or you can download the game from the PSN store a bit cheaper.

• Do all online games use the headset or just a few like on the PSP?
I think just about all of them will... The PS3's paradigmn is you at home, gaming together with people from everywhere.

• Can you upgrade your storage; let’s say I fill up the 60 gigs?
Yup... SATA 2.5" drive, 8MB cache, 5400 RMP... The drive in the PS3 is a Seagate Momentus drive. I got a 160GB version of it.

1either way is fine ,1080p is much more HD
2about the same
3ps3 do excellent jobs or keeping cool with its built in fan and the ps3 is pretty quiet
4yes
5no......for now
