So I'm curious what you folks want from Gamer411. Rather than tell me what you don't like about the site, tell me what you would want from Gamer411. IE, you want user reviews, opinion pieces, user submitted news, etc.

This might be a long shot...
Adding a product is like submitting a blog... You can check a box to mark the post as a product / review and have maybe check boxes to make it for a particular system (or across systems). Maybe the tags could be used for that and you have to put one of the consoles in the tags to get it to accept.
Then maybe those could be used to generate new items for the home page as many people like that.

A calendar of game releases might be nice, but it's hard to keep up. Maybe certain users could be in charge of keeping it current and have the ability to update and change things based on release dates.

This might be a long shot as well... How about the ability to support a user group? This could be used for clans and communities for games. For example: Socom / Rainbow 6 / Resistance or whatever... Have a way to make a group and invite users to be part of it (or maybe they can ask to join and get approved). Then you can have like your own little forum area for that group.
But that is from my playing team based games. They're my favorites so I'm always on the lookout to facilitate a group for a particular game.

i agree ... i liked the feel of this place when it felt more like it was a database of sorts ... a collection of all the games and gear coming out and attached to those products were user reviews and comments.
the forums seem to get more action because after you comment on a product there is much else to do unless you change your opinion or want to argue with someone else.
i do indeed like YoYo's request for user submitted products. i know we can do that now but it always seemed to take awhile for them to pop up and i know that is because they were being checked by either Captain or someone else. either way i think setting it up so that users are able to contribute a little easier and remove the burden from Captain.
i might have not commented on the products and reviews much but i did visit them and read them if the product interested me.

DUDE! I GOT IT CAPTAIN! Customized home pages on all the ones...like customized for each user...Choose what goes where, kinda like when you log into my.yahoo, you can move stuff around? kinda like that...so then everyone is happy... ...or would that take up too much stuff? uh...bandwidth..(?)

Check my gamerID out... And my blog posts on the home page. It puts my picin there.
Captain said at one point it's not in the forums because the focus is on content of what people are saying and not who has a better signature (more or less). But maybe it can be worked in more....
Everyone should upload an image to their Gamer411 profile. It will make things look nicer in the long run.

CHAT... that is one thing that made PSP411.com so great was the chat. it didn't always work all of the time ,but it was fun.
I like what Yoyo_pete said about the calender of when games are comming out for each system.. like he said it probably would be hard, but maybe make it so that people can change it.. but like you would have to confirm it or something.. like they would have to give the link where they found it from or something.
You know how the old layout was where there were reviews and games.. and there were smaller ones going down the page or something idk how to explain it but it was here just a little bit ago. it made the site easier to navigate and look at i think. but i think instead of having new products and stuff people just submit, maybe have it so that it is the newest game comming out for each system or something. like have 3 sections.. one for wii, one PS3, and one 360... one big picture for each one with like 4 or 5 smaller ones under it. and in each picture is a screenshot of a game that is comming out soon (in order of wen they are comming out).... it is based off of the calender idea.
also, i liked when you could click on like accessories for each system and there was stuff there (... probably just because people aren't submitting stuff (at least in PS3 section).)..
anyway, i think those would be awsome. if i think of any other things ill post em

wow...u guys have some good ideas....
I have to agree with GTA....the we need the CHAT back...it was awesome when it was on PSP411 because everyone would use it to organze Socom matches or Syphon filter matches and everything would work out great...and yoyo-pete's idea about the Group thing is cool. I would love to have a section for Clans/groups so that it will be easier to organise events and watever
How about making the forums a little more appealing...add Avatars that apear when u post..add the "Who is Online" feature. things like that.
And Captain if u think this is too much work and u Need help...u can do wat other websites do and assign Moderators. There are many ppl who visit this site regularly and know about Site Management, coding, ect... and are Mature enough to handle such a responsibilty.

I agree with Phinal. I liked the 'database' of games/products. It may not have generated alot of forums talk, but I for one spent ALOT of time reading peoples reviews, or looking at new games coming out. For me, there's nothing more valuable than someone *(who's opinion I respect), writing a well thought out review. It's saved me a TON of money on crapware (Coded Arms, etc.) & convinced me to try genre's/games. I might have ignored otherwise.
I really like Donatello's idea of 'whos online' and combine that with the ability to chat. Would it be possible to send a chat invite?
I also like YoYos clan/group section.
PLEASE bring back the user reviews/products..even if it doesn't dominate the main page.. I use it ALOT!

I could see a mix of the old and new. Using the blogs for reviews but having the blogs in categories that are sorted by tags. So that those categories can then be displayed more in the original DB format. So if some one put in say the tags review, PSP, Action, and Dungeon Maker, then that would goto the right place. Ok, a little idealistic I admit it, but it is a thought.
I did like the idea of a release date calender. I could see that it being based on say the blogs, so if you have say the right tags you can also add a date some where allowing it to me posted there. And since a blog can be edited, the date could be updated also as long as the user stays on the ball. Other then those ideas, I am not sure what else I could add.

How about the PSP411 layout? That was great.
Captain, honestly I think you should split the sites back up again. I can undertsand that you won't but it'll make things alot less hectic and you can fiddle around with each different site instead of getting a BUNCH of users hating the new design.
