I would have to agree with ilian123 pretty much on his review, it is much the same as the first RR, which is to bad, it could have been something so much more with new tracks as was with RR6 and the coming RR7. But if you are a Ridge Racer fanatic from the first Ridge Racer PS1 days, it still has the appeal to be able to play those old tracks on the PSP till the PS1 emulator comes out. They did add a 'Survival' mode with the 'Single Race' mode now called 'Arcade' mode and of course the 'Dual' mode is still there with 'Time Attack'. The graphics have be cleaned up and are sharper then before, also with the direction arrows showing the turns that are right no matter which direction your running, forwards or reverse (this did add a bit more to the load time before each race start). They also added more races/Tours then before 48, (56 if you include the Max Tours) vers 39 for the first RR, for everywhere but the US which got the Max Tours with their first PSP RR. Also some new movies have been added this time around: Ridge Racers, 2006 E3, Yamasa Raggio, racing a Boeings 737 on takeoff, (just an absolutely gorgeous piece of animation, it looks so real) and a new ending Movie. For the Special Cars, there are now eight of them, divided into Special 1 which includes Hijack (a Truck), Wild Gang (the best car in the game I think), Angelus, and Crinale, (both of these last two cars handle just plain lousy, nothing like they did before) and Special 2 (Angelus Kid, Crinale Kid (fast off the starting line, like a rocket), Pacman, and Yamasa Raggio, another nice handing car. As for difficulty, it doesn't seen to be changed any from first RR, I could still beat all the Tours in 'Basic' and 'Pro' until Tour 24 (the 'Special Cars') without using any Nitro to finish a race with the difficulty in 'Easy' or 'Normal' and still end up in first place (but maybe that's just me). Also the last EX Tours (40-48) seem to be pretty easy to finish too, in fact on the ending final race I beat it without again using nitro on all three laps to come in first with the Wild Gang car. The 'cheats' available before are still there for your use, the 'unlimited boost' and 'mirror tracks' along with the 'jump' start. I would have to say I had the most fun and challenge fiquring out how to beat the Special cars and the some of the EX Tours. And as for the Max Tours, I wouldn't do those as the odds of winning are better by buying a lottery ticket, unless your a masochist for punishment, then by all means be my guest. I also agree it would be a fine game to add to your collection if you don't have the first Ridge Racer, but maybe a bit of a disappointment for you old RR fans lookling for something totally new.
