Code 8002F997 has got me all ****** up

I just bought my ps3 a few days ago and tryed to get online play. I followed the instructions in the ps3 booklet of how to get it going and when it came to the updating my system part, it downloaded to about 60 % and then error code 8002F887 was displayed . I dont know much about wirless connections and ive never played online. Ive read threads all around and all its days is if the code appears that the system cannot downlad the XMB firmware. I dont know what that means or how to correct it so im stumped. If anyone knows how to help me out, i'd really appreciate it alot. Please somebody help!!!

try downloading the update from here link follow the instructions on that page then put it on a flash drive, memory card, or external hdd. That into the your ps3 then go to network update then chose the "update via storage media" option. That should work if you are having problems downloading from your ps3 and maybe even fix your problems with the new update.

Is your router a wireless B or A wireless G? My old wireless b router used to say something like that too. I now use a wireless G with no problems.

can any 1 help me on this whole port forwarding situatuion pretty plz. ive added ports via my pc and its firewall in the control panel is this the right way of doing this in order for your ps3 to regonize the ports? ty for any replies.
